Effect of Flow Field Geometry on Hydrodynamics of Flow in Redox Flow Battery

This study computationally investigates the hydrodynamics of different serpentine flow field designs for redox batteries, which considers Poiseuille in channel and Darcy porous substrate. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) results in-house developed code based on Finite Volume Method (FVM) conventional (CSFF) agreed well with those obtained via experiment. The deviation pressure drop was less than 5.1% all rates, thus proving present CFD analysis’s validity modified variation fields. Modified field-2 (MSFF2) design provided least across maximum velocity penetration substrate when compared to other designs. increases its wetting ability, is very important terms mass transfer over potential electrochemical reaction happening achieve effective cell performance.
